Dr. Karen Kent specializes in providing psychoeducational and psychological evaluations to children, adolescents and adults. Her assessment experience includes evaluation of cognitive, educational, and social/emotional functioning, specific learning disabilities, giftedness, ADHD, executive dysfunction, pervasive developmental disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and mental retardation.
Dr. Kent earned an M.A. in clinical psychology (1993) from Loyola College in Baltimore and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology (1999) from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She completed her predoctoral internship at Mt. Vernon Center for Community Mental Health in Springfield, Virginia. She also participated in two postgraduate psychotherapy training programs. Dr. Kent has worked as staff psychologist at two schools which serve children and adolescents with learning and emotional difficulties. In her training and professional experience, she has also worked in inpatient settings, college counseling centers, and outpatient clinics, providing individual and group therapy as well as psychoeducational assessment.
