Celebrating 3 Years

Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years in the behavioral health field, ten of which have been in private practice as a psychotherapist.

I provide therapy to adults, adolescents, & couples incorporating both traditional and mind-body interventions. I utilize an integrative approach to treatment with individuals involving psychodynamic, attachment-based, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), mindfulness, interpersonal, trauma-informed, and emotionally-focused (EFT) therapies to help them achieve their goals.

My approach is calm, supportive, and interactive. I work with individuals to help them recognize and understand their emotions, thoughts, and behavior patterns. I emphasize client strengths and collaborative skill building to facilitate the changes needed to improve confidence, competence, and connections with others.

I have worked in New York City and in Charlottesville, Virginia in a variety of settings, including community mental health, outpatient therapy settings, crisis/emergency services, private practice, and most recently as an employee assistant consultant (EAP) at the University of Virginia. I have completed advanced clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, family therapy, addiction treatment, DBT, critical incident response, and trauma treatment. I am also trained in EMDR, an effective trauma treatment technique. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from James Madison University and my Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
