Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor / Pronouns: She/Her
Barbara Wyne is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), who joined the Greater Baltimore Counseling Center in September 2014. Barbara has had years of therapeutic and other related experience in school, clinic, and private practice settings.
In 2020, I began providing telehealth services and since relocating to Arizona in the summer of 2020, I am only available through the telehealth process. I am dually licensed in both the states of Maryland and Arizona.
Working in the mental health field has been a challenging but fulfilling experience. I enjoy working with all ages-children, adolescents, and adults, however, I now work only with clients who are 12 years old and older. I incorporate various strategies to empower my clients. I’ve had much experience in addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, abuse, grief and loss, family conflict, and self-esteem. I am an affirming therapist and provide therapy for the LGTBQ+ population, particularly adolescents and parents. The therapeutic relationship is key and is the basis of trust between client and therapist. Clients need to know that I genuinely care about their lives and that I’m available to assist them in addressing both long and short-term goals.
My professional background began in speech pathology and then transitioned to special education. I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University and a Master of Education degree at the University of Arizona. After having worked with special needs children for a number of years, I decided that focusing on relationships within and outside the family was an important dynamic and then earned a Master of Science degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University in 1987. This varied background has served me well and has allowed me to bring to my therapy practice a wide range of perspectives and techniques to benefit my clients.
