Laura and Juliet are lifelong friends and colleagues who opened GBCC Behavioral Health in February 1996. While neither had formal business training, they shared an entrepreneurial spirit. The business was built with hard work and dedication during an era when managed care had the tightest grip on access to care. Despite this, GBCC grew and thrived.
In the early years, it was not unusual to find Laura and Juliet painting a room, putting a desk together or filling out insurance billing forms by hand. They were pioneers in the private practice industry, becoming one of the first practices in Maryland to offer full- time, salaried, benefited positions for clinicians.
Laura and Juliet strive to provide care in a safe and affirming environment. GBCC’s LGBTQ Affirming Care Line was established in 2017, providing increased access to care for those seeking affirming, experienced providers for therapy and surgical evaluations. In addition, GBCC is proud to offer specialty care for First Responders, medication management, and bariatric evaluations.
Since its inception, GBCC has grown to 6 locations, with over 85 clinicians specializing in ages 5 to geriatrics. GBCC is dedicated to serving the community and committed to providing access to quality mental health care for all needing to use their health insurance to access services.
