First Responder Care

"We Got Your Six"

GBCC knows that being a first responder is both rewarding and challenging. With these challenges, we know it is difficult to find a place to get quality, confidential care. GBCC has providers that specialize in working with Police, Fire, EMS, and Military. The clinicians have training in first responder culture, trauma, grief, critical incident care, substance use, and relationship problems. See below for more information

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will know I'm seeing a therapist?

You and your therapist. We are bound by confidentiality. We do not speak with anyone without your written consent.

If I see a therapist, it means that I'm not "fit for duty" and I can't possess my service weapon, right?

False. We have nothing to do with "fitness for duty." Most of our clients are full duty.

What do I talk about? Can I discuss anything?

Anything. Work stress, home stress, a call that is staying with you, critical incidents, or any other problem.

How do I pay for my therapy?

We work with your insurance. Most plans that first responders have include mental health coverage with a small copay. We will verify your benefits prior to you coming in.

How many times do I come?

As long as it makes sense. You'll decide with your therapist when you meet.

Can I wear my uniform to session?

Yep.
