Katie Dant is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained their Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2012. Katie has over a decade of experience practicing in the field with children, adolescents, and adults. They specialize in work with the LGBTQ+ community and with First Responders, and have additional expertise with trauma, substance use, homelessness, aging, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention/intervention. Katie joined GBCC in June 2021.

Prior to coming to GBCC, Katie built and managed the Substance Use Program at Grassroots, and worked in collaboration with several state and local agencies/partners to provide crisis intervention services, education, and training to the Howard County community. They helped to develop the Safe Space training program, which tackles addressing suicide risk within the LGBTQ+ community, and have presented at both the state and national level on suicide prevention and intervention. They also worked closely with the Howard County Police Department to assist with CIT School for Howard County Police Officers and First Responders, providing training and facilitating role plays throughout the curriculum.

In their spare time, Katie enjoys going for hikes with their partner and their dog Iris. They also greatly enjoy music and have recently begun learning to DJ. They were able to play their first DJ set at the first Howard County Pride festival in 2019.
