Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Henrietta is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in MD and DC providing care and support to clients with psychiatric and mental health care needs. Henrietta believes in a holistic approach, as she addresses the needs of the mind and body using a range of approaches such as psychoeducation, and psychopharmacology as well as non-pharmacological approaches. Henrietta has a wide range of experiences as a clinical nurse caring for geriatric patients in nursing homes and patients in the hospital in rehabilitation, medical, surgical, and behavioral health.
Henrietta started her nursing career as a Home Health Aide where she developed an interest in assisting the sick and needy. Thereafter, she acquired a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from the University of Phoenix and later a master’s degree (MSN) from Walden University. Working at MedStar Washington Hospital Center with mental and behavioral patients has increased my knowledge and experiences to be able to oversee more responsibilities. I quickly realized the bias, stigma, prejudice, and shame surrounding mental health and the challenges encountered by these patients and their families. My goal is to be able to create a societal change about mental illness through the psychoeducation of patients and their families, creating individualized care plans, use of psychotherapy, and medication management. Henrietta treats patients ages 10 and up, and has experience with a wide range of mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, and ADHD. I aim to diagnose and treat patients using the best evidence-based practice to make informed decisions.
Outside psychiatry, Henrietta loves to spend time with her family, travel, read, watch movies, and try new recipes.
