Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor / Pronouns: He/Him
Viktor Frankl, the founder of logotherapy, once wrote: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms— to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way” (Man’s Search for Meaning). Frankl’s logotherapy emphasizes the importance of finding personal meaning in one’s life, recognizing the unique potential in each individual and helping them realize that potential. These principles guide my approach to therapy. As a counselor, I see your potential and aim to help you unlock it for yourself. My goal is to empower you to discover meaning in your life. I am here to tell you that you can do it. I am here to support you through that process.
Hi, my name is Zach. I am an LGPC licensed in the State of Maryland and Washington, DC. I hold a BA in Psychological and Brain Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University and an MS in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. I am also a proud member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. My clinical background is rooted in crisis intervention. As a former EMT, I sought ways to enhance care for patients facing behavioral emergencies, which led me to pursue a degree in mental health and work with crisis populations. I have experience with community, law enforcement co-response, and university-based mobile crisis teams. My crisis experience shapes how I approach sessions: solution-focused and goal-oriented, while incorporating motivational interviewing and the stages of change model. Above all, I strive to lead with empathy and compassion. By exploring the underlying “whys” behind our actions, my hope is to facilitate meaningful changes in how we perceive ourselves and interact with others.
My clinical specialties include crisis populations, trauma, first responders, college-aged individuals, anxiety, phobias, life transitions, grief, relationship issues, and men’s issues. If any of these areas resonate with you or if you believe we would be a good fit, please consider scheduling an appointment.
